No surprises for Bideford in South West One challenges
BIDEFORD have found nothing to surprise them in Tribute South West One West – and they are still enjoying the challenge.
After getting their first wins of the season, against Cullompton and Sidmouth, the Chiefs were brought down to earth on Saturday.
Cleve, the unbeaten league leaders, scored 29 unanswered points in the second half to record a 44-5 win.
"It's not a surprise to any of us, we knew it was going to be hard," said Mark Priest, the Bideford head coach.
"We're enjoying it, it's great to play these clubs who have been in this league for a while. It's challenging all of us.
"We have got to accept the defeats and savour the wins because we are playing against good teams."
Bideford will host another of the division's newcomers on Saturday when Hornets make the trip from Weston-super-Mare.
Hornets went up as Western Counties North champions last season, winning the title ahead of Wells, who were beaten by Bideford in a promotion play-off. "They will be a handful for sure," said Priest.
